For children with special needs, swinging has the potential to impact the brain's ability to process sensory information, which assists in the early stages of brain development. Swinging can strengthen specific sensory experiences a special needs child encounters. As far as our sensory systems are concerned, swinging is a fantastic way to engage a child's vestibular system. This system basically perceives how our muscles work with gravity. Among other things, it controls our movements and balance.
